I am writing this in my fluffy Christmas pyjamas, with a glass of red wine by my side on what is supposed to be the first day of Spring! Ha ha! Here, in Lancashire we have been beset by the ‘Beast from the East’. Today has been my third snow day at home with a poorly toddler who does not particularly like the snow, and cabin fever has begun to set in!
It’s been challenging, but we have kept busy today with play do’h, painting and baking biscuits (more on that tomorrow). Anyway, it’s felt like a long cooped up day and I am glad now to be unwinding in my little blog.
I imagine lots of families will have been doing movie marathons today, in-between bouts of playing outside, of course! The Harry Potter films were built for days like today where you can get snuggled with your family and lose yourself in a magical world, which is what reminded me of what I wanted to share with you…
Here is one of the best presents my mother-in-law has ever gifted me (and yes, she is pretty amazing).. my super geeky and gorgeous Harry Potter charm bracelet.
As you may have picked up on from my post on Disney Couture jewelry. I have a fondness for jewelry that subtly nods to my favourite fandoms and this charm bracelet does that exceedingly well. All the little charms are instantly recognisable and meaningful to Harry Potter fans but the piece as a whole still works as an everyday bracelet.
My favourite charms on here have to be the Deathly Hallows symbol, Fang’s face and Hogwarts castle. I love wearing this bracelet because it is portable entertainment; I spend ages fiddling with charms, remembering what each one symbolises and then getting lost in a Harry Potter reverie (warning: don’t wear it to important meetings. It’s too distracting!)
Anyway, this little bracelet makes me happy, and I thought it might make some fellow Harry Potter geeks happy too so I thought I would share it. It is a couple of years old now, and it was a gift so I am not 100% sure where it came from but I think it was from Etsy. I am wondering of starting a collection and go looking for a Doctor Who charm bracelet next, because I do like to wear my geeky heart on my sleeve… or wrist!
