This afternoon, Orla and I were making chalk drawings in the garden, it’s our new favourite activity. We are slowly using up all the paving stones and our drawings are getting more dramatic.
Today our chalk supplies were running low so we nipped into town to get some more, two packs for £1.50 from Wilkinson. On our way back to the car we stopped to look in a second hand bookshop and found two Winnie-the-Pooh books for 50p each. I don’t remember ever having any of the Winnie-the-Pooh books as a child and so was keen to read these myself.
I tried reading them to Orla this afternoon but they are a bit long for her right now, I on the other hand, loved them.
They are so gentle, upbeat and wry. I am looking forward to reading them to her properly when she gets older. But right now, it feels like we are living the Winnie-the-Pooh life anyway. Long sunny afternoons with games and ice creams. Orla learning new things all the time and all of our buddies we meet up with during the week.
I guess, I am writing this post just as a note to me, to remember these days. Not everything is perfect in life, it never is. We have our struggles and our sadness, but right now, these days are really good in our family and I am feeling very grateful for the life we get to lead, and these sunny days, and Winnie-the-Pooh!
